As formal celebrations and discussions pertaining to women’s rights issues dissipate, now that National Women’s Day has come and gone, we need to keep the conversation alive. We should not allow these issues to be marginalized to one day’s focus.
We need to encourage the voices of young women to raise their opinions and assert their rights to ensure that they are heard and that their aspirations are truly reflected and met. Every Day should be Women’s Day and like the much celebrated stalwarts of the previous generations, we need to encourage a new female activism, one that speaks on her own behalf and one that refuses a status quo that oppresses her.
